Top Considerations When Planning A Moving Date

Planning your move can be incredibly exciting! Designing your new home, getting acquainted with your new neighbourhood, and introducing yourself to your new neighbour's friends, are all great parts of moving into a new home.

However, before you can get to that, you have to complete the actual move first.

Planning the date of your move will take some forethought as it will have to mesh with you and the moving business of your choice’s schedule. Throughout this article, we go over some great tips for perfectly planning the date of your move.

Schedule

Before you go ahead and set a moving date, you should first be sure to take your and your family’s schedule into consideration. Moving can be disruptive for both you and your children. So it’s helpful to find a date that works around your whole family’s schedule, like when school is out, or when you aren’t as busy at work.

This is one of the most important tips for planning a moving date. The more you plan, and the more flexible your schedule is, the easier it will be to find a deal and prepare adequately.

Availability of movers

Once you have a good idea of your schedule, you should then look into the moving company’s schedule you plan to hire. Find out their availability and if there are additional costs attached to specific dates so you can find the best deals.

Weather

Bad weather can slow down your move and may even lead to the date being changed. Conversely, good weather can make the moving process much more manageable. However, moving in the summer months can be more costly, and movers’ availability may be lacking.

Choose the right season and keep a close eye on the weather around your moving date.

Choosing the right season for you

Each season of the year comes with positives and negatives when it comes to moving. To help you confidently choose the season that best suits your move, we have broken down the pros and cons of moving during each season.

  • Summer - Demand for selling houses is high, the weather is nice, and kids are out of school, but moving companies’ demand is high, traffic is rough, and the heat may make moving unbearable.
  • Autumn - While it is nice enough to move during Autumn and you will probably find a reasonable price, kids are still in school.
  • Winter - Winter is the cheapest least expensive season to move, but kids will still be in school, and you will have holidays to worry aboutconsider.
  • Spring - The demand for moving companies is reasonably low between March and April, and it is still great the weather is favourable, but kids will still be in school

[Text Wrapping Break]As you can see, summer is the busiest set of months to move. Moving companies are usually totally booked as that is when people want to buy and sell their homes the most. Instead, you would be better off choosing a day between September to mid-November or mid-March to the end of April.

Choosing the right day for you

Most people will schedule their move at the end or beginning of the month as it can be challenging to make the proper preparations to move in the middle of the month. However, because it is easiest to move during the start or end of the month, you may have a hard time hiring a moving company, and they may even charge more. **please rewrite this paragraph, the message isnt quite clear.

Instead, try to arrange rent, utilities, and a change of address so that you can move in the middle of the month. ...not sure what this ties to?

As for the best day to move, Friday is, of course, the most popular, therefore making movers less flexible and possibly more costlying you more. Sunday is the least popular choice as many don’t want to unpack and then return to work the following day, though it could be a cheaperthe least expensive option.

The best time to move would beis during the week as movers will beare likely more flexible and will charge you less.

Determining How Much Time You’ll Need

After you have decided on a day that best matches your needs, you can then use that to calculate how much time you’ll need to move. Try to plan at least two months or eight weeks before that move date to see determine when you need should to start your moving plan.

The most important thing to keep in mind when you are choosing a moving date is flexibility. The more flexibility your schedule has, the more options you will have. Planning in advance can provide the flexibility needed to make moving as easy as possible, so be sure to give yourself a lot of extra time.
