After years of dreaming of the moment, you have finally arrived at this point. It’s a dream to be here, holding them finally.
Drinking in that sleek design. The world-class craftsmanship.
These cost as much as your first car. They cost about 25 percent more than you told your partner, in fact.
But, they are so worth it.
After years of working hard, you have finally pulled the trigger and bought your dream set of golf clubs!
Some people may judge, but they don’t golf. They don’t understand how precious these clubs will be.
You can almost see that extra 20 yards you’re going to get on your drive, the backspin you’re going to put on your chips!
These clubs are going to finally see you beat that loudmouth, Doug, too. It’s going to be glorious!
These clubs are your pride and joy.
Which is why you are going to keep them in…the trunk of your car? What? I thought you said these were valuable?
To be serious, a good set of golf clubs can cost upwards of $1,500. Even an entry-level set can cost $500, which is a significant amount of money for discretionary spending for most of us. You want to treat them right so that you can see them last for several years.
That means you should store them currently. What does that mean exactly? Here are some tips on what to look for when you are storing your golf clubs:
Golf clubs are delicate. They’ll break, or bend if they are used in ways that they were not designed for. That most often happens when the club is accidentally smashed or slammed against something.
And that most often happens in the place that most people store them – the truck of your car or the back of your truck.
You hit bumps when you drive. Things shift in the trunk. So, and we can’t stress this enough, don’t store your golf clubs in your car. The only time they should be in your car or truck is on the way to the course.
Instead, put them someplace where they are out of the way and where they won’t be moved.
The other thing that golf clubs are, is expensive and easy to sell on Kijiji or Craig’s List. That makes them a very tempting target for unscrupulous people to steal.
So, don’t store them in a visible (like outside) or obvious (garage or shed) location. It’s unfortunate, but, if you do, they will get stolen eventually.
You should put the clubs in a place that is inside and away from a window.
Like any metal product, you’ll want to make sure that they are kept in a dry place to avoid getting rust or mold on the clubs.
It’s truly ironic how many golfers will carefully wipe down their clubs after every swing, only to then store them in a damp basement when not playing.
You’d be surprised how inexpensive self-storage is, especially in rural areas close to your home course. So, one great solution might be to rent a small storage space that you can keep the clubs in, as well as other lesser used household items like Christmas decorations, or seasonal sports equipment.
Most storage facilities will have temperature-controlled units that will keep your clubs in good-as-new condition and with 24/7 security, you can be assured that the clubs will be there when you need them.
Search on MoveBuddy to find a storage solution near you or your course.
If you take these steps, you can enjoy your clubs for years to come!
